Version 2.0 of Open Source VR Driver Vireio Perception Now Available

The open source virtual reality driver Vireio Perception has been updated to version 2.0. This is being billed as a major rewrite of the software and sets the stage for future expansions of the driver.

The driver updates existing non-VR games to make them work with the Oculus Rift. Support for Technical Illusion CastAR is also planned. Similar drivers include Tridef and vorpX, but Vireio Perception is the only free and open-source driver currently available.

The initial list of supported games is limited for this release, but the team is seeking help from the community to expand the list of supported games. Current supported games include:

  • Bioshock
  • Deus-Ex Human Revolution
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  • Left4Dead
  • Portal 2
